Webinar: How to Talk About Climate Change (even during a pandemic)

Date: Wednesday, May 13

Ideal for: Informal educators, training professionals, graduate students, communicators

Do you want to gain confidence in talking about climate change issues? Join us to learn about strategic framing- a research-based approach to communication that engages audiences in thinking productively about how they can participate in creating or supporting climate change solutions. Strategic framing techniques help us avoid or navigate common pitfalls that arise when talking about this important issue. Although focused on the topic of climate change, the general approach may be applied to any type of science communication. We’ll also touch on preliminary expert guidance on how to communicate about climate change during the height of the COVID-19 crisis.

About the Speaker: Jennifer West, Coastal Training Program Coordinator with the Narragansett Bay Research Reserve, will provide specific, practical tools developed by social scientists and tested by hundreds of colleagues in the National Network for Ocean and Climate Change Interpretation (NNOCCI). Jen is an active members of the NNOCCI network and has been facilitating workshops for the NNOCCI network for several years.
