The Texas Stream Team is a volunteer-based citizen scientist water quality monitoring program. Data collected by these citizen scientists provides baseline and ongoing evaluation of water quality in a body of water, and can be used in the decision-making process to promote and protect healthy environments. Because of this, citizen scientists must adhere to standardized methods, which will be taught in this training.
This training will be open to folks in the Mission-Aransas NERR watershed - including Port Aransas, Aransas Pass, Rockport, and the surrounding areas - concerned and/or interested in the water quality of their nearby creeks, rivers, and bays. You will learn about basic water quality parameters, how to measure them, and healthy measurements for our area. The training will last 4 hours, which will include classroom and field time. There will be a 1 hour break for lunch.
