"SOLO" Beach Clean up: February 12th-14th
The Mission Aransas NERR, with the support of the NOAA Marine Debris program, is launching our “Solo” clean up event. This is not any clean up- we are awarding prizes. At the end of each day a winner will be selected for the most unique item(s) found. Please see the details for the event below:

WHAT: Pick-up marine debris for proper disposal while social distancing
WHERE: Anywhere in coastal Texas! Beaches, back bays, jetties, wetlands, waterfronts etc. Follow us on Facebook @MANERR or Mission Aransas Reserve to join the event! Not on Facebook? No problem, you can e-mail us and join the fun: npoulson@austin.utexas.edu.
WHEN: February 12th-14th, 2021
WHAT ELSE: Post photos to our Facebook event page and share your findings to be selected for a prize. See an example above for clean up photos!
*Prizes will be mailed to those who win.
Clean up tips-
- Use an app such as the 'Marine Debris Tracker' or 'Clean Swell' to report information on what types of trash you clean up and where
- Take a bucket or other reusable container to put trash in instead of using plastic garbage bags
- Check the tides beforehand and plan to go during a low or outgoing tide
- Don't forget your mask and gloves! Stay safe!
